100 Years Ago Canadian women won the Right to Vote in federal elections

On May 24, 1918 Canadian women won the Right to Vote in federal elections. This “win” was still inclusive and did not apply to ALL women, but it was a significant achievement and an important step closer to equality.

How many years after this big win did it take until ALL Canadian women were able to vote in Canadian federal elections? 42.

Now that all women can vote, have we now reached total gender parity with regards to equal pay, in politics, and domestic life, and other relevant issues? Many agree that this is simply not yet the case. Nellie would surely have said there is “still work to be done”.
