Celebrating 100 Years of Manitoba Women's Right to Vote Events

John A. Macdonald Dinner

February 6, 2016

This dinner is an annual event to honour the first Prime Minister of Canada. The Manitoba Historical Society was also involved in restoring the Winnipeg home of John A’s son, Sir Hugh John Macdonald.

Each year a prominent Canadian is asked to speak at the dinner. The year’s speaker, Jennifer Ditchburn, well-known reporter and participant in CBC “Power and Politics” program has been asked to speak – in recognition of the part played by women journalists in the Votes for Women campaign in Manitoba. Mrs. Genevieve Lipsett-Skinner from Winnipeg was the first woman in the Parliamentary Press Gallery where Jennifer now works.
