Established on December 4th, 2003 by a unanimous Private Member’s Bill, The Nellie McClung Foundation was officially constituted on September 15, 2006.
We are a non-profit, volunteer based organization and as such we have no physical office, no staff, and very little in the way of regular operating expenses. The Foundation’s Charitable Registration number is 86233 6948.
Through our fundraising efforts over many years, the hard work of our board, and special advisors, and the generosity of individuals, companies, organizations and Government, we were able, at last, to ‘bring Nellie home’. Our monument in honor of celebrated Manitoban Nellie McClung is in place on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislature, and an endowment has been established in order to maintain the monument and site. We have also been able to put into place the a website – ournellie.com – which is the cornerstone of our education and archive initiatives.
We are proud to say that we have reached our primary goals, our most important milestones. And yet, we are aware that the foundation is about to embark on a new journey, building on Nellie’s incredible legacy.
